City of Lincoln general municipal elections are held in November of even-numbered years. Other special elections may be called from time to time by the City Council. City of Lincoln City Council Members are elected by district to staggered 4-year terms. The November 3, 2026 election will elect two City Council seat — seats for District 1 and District 2. The City of Lincoln consolidates its General Municipal Election with Placer county for the statewide election held in even-numbered years. The City of Lincoln has no term limits. The Mayor is appointed every year on a rotational basis by the City Council. The City Treasurer is also an elected position but this position is elected at-large rather than by district.

You will need to provide your full legal name and residence address so that the City Clerk can verify your eligibility through Placer County Voter Registration.

- File FPPC Form 700 - City Council Candidates (Including incumbents) must file their Form 700 through the State of California electronic filing system.
Under the by-district election system, only registered voters residing in a Council District may run for City Council for that District, and only registered voters residing in the candidate’s District may vote for that candidate.
