Elections

City of Lincoln general municipal elections are held in November of even-numbered years. Other special elections may be called from time to time by the City Council.  City of Lincoln City Council Members are elected by district to staggered 4-year terms. The City of Lincoln consolidates its General Municipal Election with Placer County for the statewide election held in even-numbered years. The City of Lincoln has no term limits.  The Mayor is appointed every year on a rotational basis by the City Council. The City Treasurer is also an elected position but this position is elected at-large rather than by district.

The City Council approved Ordinance 1004B which transitioned the City from at-large to district elections beginning with the November 3, 2020 election.  You can type in your address on the Interactive District Map to find out what district you live in. This web app allows you to zoom in at the street or house scale but it looks best on either a computer or tablet.  If you open it on your phone, the street names will not display until you are zoomed in at the street/neighborhood scale.  

You must re-register if you:

• Move
• Change your name
• Change your political party affiliation

Online voter registration is available through the Secretary of State's Office at https://registertovote.ca.gov/

The City of Lincoln Conflict of Interest Code was adopted by the City of Lincoln City Council - Resolution No. 2022-218, effective: September 27, 2022.

The California Political Reform Act, (Gov. Code Sections 81000-91014) requires many local public officials and employees to file public, personal financial disclosure reports known as Statements of Economic Interests - Form 700.

Under the Act, cities are required to adopt and implement a separate Conflict of Interest Code. Designated Employees, Commissioners, and Elected Officials must file Statements of Economic Interests. The City Clerk, as Filing Officer, administers the Conflict of Interest Code at the local level and notifies each designated employee and commissioner of his or her filing obligation. Officials designated in the Conflict of Interest Code are required to file an Assuming Office Statement when they assume a designated position, an Annual Statement each year and a Leaving Office Statement within thirty days of resignation or termination. Additionally, candidates for elected positions are required to file a Candidate statement. Each type of statement has a specified "reporting period." Filers must sign the Form 700 under penalty of perjury. Once filed, the form is a public document and must be made available to the public upon request.

The City Council, City Treasurer are elected officers identified in Government Code Section 87200 and file statements of economic interests with the City Clerk's office. Also required to file are the Planning Commission, City Manager and City Attorney.
