Homicide Investigation – 1200 block of Hillwood Loop


On February 3, 2026, shortly before 6:00 p.m., the Lincoln Police Department received a 
911 call from a male individual reporting that he had shot another person inside a 
residence after the individual allegedly approached him with a knife.


Officers responded promptly to the scene and detained 35-year-old Zachary Siegfried.
Upon arrival, officers and emergency medical personnel located an adult male inside the 
residence suffering from multiple apparent gunshot wounds. Despite immediate lifesaving 
efforts, the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.


Due to the nature of the incident, Lincoln Police Department detectives and a crime scene 
investigator assumed lead responsibility for the investigation. Investigators from the 
Placer County District Attorney’s Office also responded to assist. A thorough search of 
the residence and area was conducted for physical evidence and potential witnesses. A 
firearm was recovered from the residence. 


Following interviews and scene processing, Siegfried was arrested on suspicion of 
homicide and booked into the South Placer County Jail.


This investigation is in its preliminary stages, and the full circumstances surrounding the 
incident remain under active review. At this time, authorities believe this to be an isolated 
event with no ongoing threat to the community.


The Placer County Sheriff’s Office will release the identity of the deceased once next of 
kin have been notified. The Lincoln Police Department urges anyone with information
