About Sandstad Park
Sandstad Park, located in the Independence neighborhood, is a 2.9-acre park that includes a shade structure, group barbeque and tables, play area for ages 5-12, hill side, picnic tables, drinking fountain, benches and trash receptacles.
Named after Elton Ralph "Sandy" Sandstad who was born in 1920 and raised in Lincoln. On February 22, 1944 he was tragically killed in action during WWII and posthumously awarded the bronze star.
This park was built and named in recognition of all those Lincoln citizens who have served in the US Marine Corps.
