Community Emergency Response Team

The Lincoln Fire Department is prepared to handle most everyday emergencies. However, during a disaster, Certthe number and scope of incidents will likely far exceed its ability to provide effective emergency services.

CERT provides the following services: Firefighter “rehab,” School and Fire Station visits, utility safety standbys, search and rescue plus any needed activity that would release our Fire Fighters for active duty status. They also participate in the Firefighters Turkey Drive and provide support at community events, such as Unveil Lincoln, Operation Sparkle, Sun City Lincoln Hills Concerts, Lions’ Kids Day, Lincoln AirFest and National Night Out.

CERT members must complete the CERT Basic Training Class, which includes sessions on Team organization, Incident Command System (ICS), fire safety, hazardous materials, terrorist incidents, disaster medical operations, search and rescue, and disaster psychology. They must also pass background checks and driving record reviews, and take additional training such as traffic safety, power line and utility safety. For information on CERT, FEMA has a free introduction class available online. Click the link below for more information.
