How to Apply for a Commercial Building Permit

  1. Fill out a Building Permit Application
  2. Submit 3 plan sets with Cover Page that includes required information and any applicable documents
  3. Submit check for fees made to the City of Lincoln

Submit Permit Package

Bring application, plans, applicable documents, and check to the Building Counter located on the 2nd floor of City Hall.

Commercial Plan Application Requirements

All Commercial plan submittals must include the following information on the Cover Page

Title Block:

  • Page reference number
  • Designers name(s), contact information, stamps, and signatures
  • Project name and address
  • Revision block with dates of re-submittals

Site plan:

  • Provide an overhead view of the area in Lincoln, CA and show cross streets.

Page Index:

  • List all pages
  • Accessibility page needed with details that are prevalent to the project application

Building Data section:

Accessibility Data section:

Must include Building Code Analysis with Code path, if clarity is needed or required.

Project Scope of work

Please include a scope of work.

General Notes

Please include general notes.

Deferred Submittal Section

Some items cannot be deferred, but please include if applicable.

Formatting Requirements

Minimum Plan Page is 18”X 24”, 1/8 scale, and #10 font.

Fire Systems or Fire Sprinklers

Please fill out a Fire Systems Permit Application

Must have obtained a Fire Flow Report prior to permit application submittal.

Building Inspections

All building permits require at least one building inspection. Please schedule your building inspection before 3pm at least one business day in advance.

Requesting final inspection for a commercial development project?

Please complete Commercial Building Permit Routing Form at least 15 working days prior to Final Building Inspection date. Email completed form to Community Development Department - Permit Center.
