Love Lincoln Photo Challenge Official Rules

  • Contest Dates.
    • Each week of the challenge runs from 12:00 AM Monday – 11:59 PM Sunday. Photos must be uploaded within the current active week of the challenge.
    • Photographs entered in the contest can be taken at any time.

     

  • Entry Information:
    •  There is no fee to enter the contest.
    • The contest is open to all photographers.
    • The contestant must be the actual photographer for each image submitted under their name.
    • Photographs must be taken in and around Lincoln.
    • Contestants may enter multiple photographs per week.
    • Contestants must be age 13 or older to submit entries. Photographs taken by contestants younger than 13 must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian.
    • Photos and submission information must be submitted via the official submission form for each week, which can be found at http://www.lincolnca.gov/city-hall/love-lincoln-photo-challenge 
    • Photo must be a digital file uploaded via the submission form. The City will not accept hard copies of photographs or emailed photographs.
    • The City of Lincoln is not responsible for entries lost through the entry procedure.
    • If there are identifiable people in the photo and it was taken in a non-public space, it is the responsibility of the photographer to obtain permission to use the photo.
    • Incomplete entries will not be judged. Contestants must provide name and email address, as well as the photo file. If there are identifiable people in the photo, the contestant must be able to provide the name of the person(s) and consent.
    • Providing a title, date, or location for the photograph is optional.
    • The City of Lincoln reserves the right to remove from the contest any submitted image that depicts illegal, unsafe, patently offensive, or otherwise inappropriate content, advertising, content implying City support or sponsorship, or any other content that the City deems contrary to the goals and intent of the contest.
    • By submitting, contestants must agree to the following:
      • I hereby give permission to the City of Lincoln or anyone authorized by the City of Lincoln to use and/or reproduce any or all digital images for any purpose including multi-media publications (print, Internet, broadcast television, presentations and internal City use) without compensation to me. The City will make every reasonable effort to ensure the creator of the image is properly credited when the image is used.
      • I understand that my submittal may be used in its entirety or in part and may be revised, modified, or combined with other images for use by the City and its designees.
      • I understand that any digital images submitted will become and remain property of the City.
      • I understand that any digital images submitted may be reviewed by the public and may be displayed in City and non-City facilities.
      • I have received permission from all person(s) in the photograph(s) for use of their image as part of my entry into the Love Lincoln Photo Challenge
      • I certify that the photos I submitted are unique and original, taken by me, and do not infringe upon any copyright or patent.
      • I certify that I have read and understand the rules of the contest.
    • Any submission received after the entry deadline will not be eligible.

     

    • Image Requirements:
      • The City of Lincoln prefers to receive submissions in .jpg file format and with a resolution of at least 200 DPI. The City of Lincoln reserves the right to remove low resolution entries from the contest.
         
    • Watermarks: The City of Lincoln prefers to receive entries without watermarks. If you choose to submit an entry with a watermark, please make it small and place it on the edge of the image. The City of Lincoln reserves the right to remove watermarked entries from the contest.  

     

    • Judging: Photos will be judged on the basis of online votes from the community, which are limited to one vote/user/day of the challenge. The entry with the highest number of votes at the close of the contest will be the winner.
       
    • Awards: Winners will be notified by email and announced on City social media.
       
    • Information contained in these official rules is for reference only and is subject to change. The City of Lincoln reserves the right to revise, amend, or repeal these contest rules at any time.
