Pioneer Community Energy (Pioneer) began mailing the second of four enrollment notices to residents and businesses in the cities of Auburn, Colfax, Lincoln, and Rocklin, the Town of Loomis and unincorporated Placer County on Jan 3rd. Mailing occurs in four separate phases, based on customer billing cycles. Residents and businesses should be begin seeing the notices as early as January. 5th.

“This is the second of four notices that Pioneer must send to ratepayers scheduled to become part of Pioneer Community Energy starting in February,” said Greg Janda, City Councilmember for Rocklin and Pioneer Governing Board member. “The notice includes the terms and conditions, a rate comparison and other information requested by the public. We encourage everyone to visit our website to learn about Pioneer in greater detail along with Pioneer's commitment to serving residents and businesses with lower, more stable electric rates.”

Net Energy Metering (NEM) customers who have solar will not receive a notice because they are not part of the initial enrollment. NEM customers will be enrolled on or near their true-up date to protect their true-up process. Pioneer will not begin NEM enrollments until later in 2018.

Residents and businesses will see a 3% reduction in the electric generation charges on their bills. Homes and businesses will be enrolled during each billing cycle, starting after Feb 1. Customers will continue to receive a PG&E bill that will show Pioneer as the provider of the electric generation. All payments will continue to be sent to PG&E. Pioneer will provide the energy, while PG&E will continue to transmit and deliver the electricity, to maintain the power lines, and respond to all service needs, such as power outages.

Enrollment begins in February 2018, and will be automatic, to ensure fair and equal access to the benefits of Pioneer electricity rates and programs for all ratepayers. All residents and businesses in the service territory then have the choice to continue receiving the benefits of Pioneer, or to remain with PG&E.  For more information, visit or call 1 (844) YES – PIONEER (1-844-937-7466), toll free.
