We hope you’ll join us for our next Virtual Science Talk on Wednesday, February 10!

Virtual Science Talk, return to Mars
Last year we talked about the launch of the Mars Exploration Program, which includes the Perseverance Rover and the Ingenuity Helicopter Drone. The program launched on July 30, 2020 and is expected to land in the Jezero crater on Mars on February 18, but before that, we’re going to virtually go back to Mars ourselves.

The Mars 2020 Perseverance rover, which has started its approach to the Red Planet, will help answer the next logical question in Mars exploration.

With only about 50 million miles (80 million kilometers) left to go in its 293-million-mile (471-million-kilometer) journey, NASA's Mars 2020 Perseverance rover is nearing its new planetary home. The spacecraft has begun its approach to the Red Planet and in 43 days, on Feb. 18, 2021, Perseverance will blaze through Mars' atmosphere at about 12,100 mph (19,500 kph), touching down gently on the surface about seven minutes later.

And PLEASE let us know if you’d be interested in attending this session but aren’t quite sure how to use the Zoom meeting software. Feel free to email us at library@lincolnca.gov
